Mirage Radio Yachts
is now able to supply IOM designs to order on a
reduced time frame. Production capabilities have
been increased and we are now able to supply
kits from basic components, through to complete
packages. Also available are sails to suit any
design of radio yacht.

MAD MAX
Mirage Radio Yachts announces the planned
production of it's new IOM design, Mad Max.
After some testing by the designer, the new boat
was sailed for the first time by Paul Jones in a
ranking event regatta.
At the
NSW Grand Prix
event held at Lake Macquarie on the 31st
May-1st of June, Paul held off a field which
included the current World Champion Brad Gibson,
and past dual World Champion Craig Smith, to win
the event.
The new hull which features a moderate beam at
deck level, and what would be considered a
narrow waterline beam, also has a squared off
narrow type stern section.
The photos show the hull form.
Designed to perform in all conditions, the new
boat is showing its capabilities.
Testing in strong winds has shown that the boat
is able to handle these conditions equally as
well as it does the lighter winds.
Orders will be taken with production due to
start in approximately 10 weeks
COCKATOO 08
-
The Cockatoo is a proven
IOM design, produced with the aid of a very
complex CAD software program, MaxSurf. This boat
is showing itself to be a “user friendly” design
and
has
proven to be a great all round boat.
The latest version
Cockatoo 08
has the same hull form as the previous
version the Cockatoo 2 but is fitted with a new
fin in a new position.
The Cockatoo 2 was slightly modified from the original and
is the winner
of many regattas worldwide. there were 5 of
this design in the top 20 Worlds, (Australia
2005). The best being Paul
Jones, 3rd overall, but with the lowest points
total before drops.

XTREME
-
This narrow beam design
has been developed to satisfy the requirement
for this type of IOM.
Under development for some time, this hull has
proved to be more than competitive in stronger
winds, and with modifications is now competitive
in lighter winds.
A very "pure" shape, resulting from a hull form
which produced really excellent speed potential
numbers in the computer programme. This
design is now in production.
Torvald Klem of Norway has recently won the
Nordic Gold cup with his new Xtreme.
VIBE
(Marblehead) – After studying current designs,
this boat was evolved using the MaxSurf CAD
program to produce a user friendly boat that has
very good speed potential in all wind strengths.
The latest mod to this design is the addition of
a ball raced stub/gooseneck. This has reduced
the cost as this stub assembly is used for all
rigs. Each rig needs only a mast, jib boom and
sails. Available as a hull package only or
with any selection of rigs and sails.
