Mirage Radio Yachts

MIRAGE RADIO YACHTS is proud to announce the release of its new IOM design Maxim.

The Maxim is a development of the very successful Cheinz design and is the result of many hours of computer design work comparing each design change with previous results.
It has the qualities of easy handling and ability to handle the top end requirements of each rig but at the same time improve the lower wind strength capabilities. Something that a number of modern designs do not cope well with.

It incorporates a slightly wider waterline beam to give it more form stability, and more reverse angle on the topside above the chine from the mast area to the stern. The sheerline has been lowered from amidships back to reduce the volume of the hull.

The foredeck has been redesigned to overhang the bulkhead to give added support to the mast.

Internally all the electrics are now placed on a tray situated at the pitching moment of the hull to minimize hobbyhorsing. The winch is now fitted under the deck on this tray.

The Maxim is fitted with a narrower section fin and this together with the low drag rudder has contributed to the increase in downwind speed.

These appendages are part of the improved overall package and are the result of testing each individual component to ensure they contribute to an increase in performance.

In only its second major regatta 2 Maxim's finished 2nd and 3rd. The second placed boat only 1 point from first .Both skippers were very excited about the Maxim's performance in its early days, and are looking forward to the next event. With further fine tuning the performance can only improve.

Both skippers commented on the easy handling and turning ability of the hull.

Mirage Radio Yachts is now able to take orders for the Maxim.

Sails & Masts

The sail making side of things has also changed slightly with new profiles proving very good.

I have found a supply of mylar film that has a very smooth finish and is producing very nice sails.

I have in stock the 11.0mm x .5mm High tensile aluminium masts for IOMís, which are performing really well.
